Living in
the Florida Keys means being surrounded by lush, tropical gardens, parks and
forests. We live in a special place with its own incredible natural beauty.
This coming Valentine’s Day weekend, February 13-14th, you
can not only enjoy a special time at the Key West Tropical Forest &
Botanical Garden, you can take some of it home with you. As a fundraiser to
support the garden, visitors can purchase a variety of native and exotic
flora in a special sale known as GardenFest:The Green Marketplace.
There are
more than just beautiful plants for sale. Garden and nature lovers will also
find earth-based arts and crafts, gardening supplies and health-oriented
products. There will be several exhibit booths for you to stop by and learn
about local non-profit organizations that focus on conserving our environment,
as well as presentations by experts on a variety of topics. The kids can even
get in on the fun with the Science Corner.
It
wouldn’t be a festival without food, drink and music, and GardenFest has all
three. There will be an on-site beer garden with beer or wine available
alongside a variety of health food options. At some point, between
shopping and eating, you can take advantage of the free admission to
GardenFest, and stroll around the incredible Tropical Forest & Botanical
Garden. This unique 15-acre property is literally a living museum with
many endangered or threatened plant species being cared for. There are two
wetland habitats, butterfly habitats, a music garden and a waterfall wall of
tropical plants. The gardens are home to rare native birds and migratory visitors
as well. GardenFest is a great time to see some of these visitors to the Keys.
We are lucky to live where we
do, and the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden is one unique attraction we
have that adds to the vibrancy of our piece of paradise. If you live in the
area, GardenFest will be a great family-friendly event to check out and
find some new plants for your home, your own piece of paradise. If you are a
visitor here, a stop by the gardens will give you a view into one of the
reasons this place is so amazing. If you’re ready to sell or buy a home in the Key West area, please contact me, Jimmy Lane, for all of your realestate needs.Labels: GardenFest, jimmy lane, Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden
