Life in the Florida
Keys is full of great times, a laid back lifestyle and incredible events
throughout the year. It is time once more for one of the most popular Key West festivals around, Lobsterfest. This festival celebrates the opening of lobster
season in the Keys. If you had to choose one festival to attend this summer,
Lobsterfest would be a top choice! There will be four days of lobster mania including free entertainment, a street
fair, pub crawl and of course, plenty of lobster. Make a long weekend out of it
and plan to join in the festive fun from Thursday, August 6 through Sunday,
August 9th.
Things get cooking on August 6th with the taste of
fresh lobster - one pound worth that
is. The Lobster Boil
being held from 5-8 pm at the Sunset Tiki
Bar & Grille, all guests get a pound of the boil which will include not
only lobster, but shrimp, crawfish Andouille sausage as well as corn on the cob
and new potatoes, a feast to be sure. Space is limited, so book ahead and
reserve your space for this annual start of Lobsterfest.
On Friday August 7th you can go for
sumptuous cuisine or party it up. Tavern n Town
is hosting an exclusive Vintner’s Dinner at 6:30, but space is very limited to
reserve a spot now if you want to
experience the luxurious aspect of lobster
paired with top wines and superb fresh
local dishes. For something a bit more casual and plenty of fun, there is
the 10th annual Duval Crawl. You and hundreds of other festival attendees will
stroll down Duval Street from 8:00
pm to Midnight, enjoying two for one beer, showing your Lobsterfest pride with
an official t-shirt and raising
funds to benefit the Key West High
School Scholarship Fund. Tickets can be purchased for the Duval Crawl at
the Key West Promotions Shop beginning August 5th.
Duval Street will
continue to be the place to go for Lobsterfest on Saturday August 8th. You can spend all day at the Lobsterfest Street Fair, featuring local artisans and their crafts. The
street fair runs from Noon – 11:00 pm and there will be plenty of lobster and
music to enjoy. The Lobsterfest Free Concert will be at the corner of Duval and Greene Street. You will be serenaded by the likes of Alphonse, Bubba System, Cool Breeze and The
DurtBags. The music begins at 1:00 pm and goes on until 10:30pm. Saturday is
one day full of color, music and the vibrant energy that makes Key West such a
well-loved place in the Keys.

Sunday August 9th
will wrap up Lobsterfest, but by the time we are done with this favorite Key
West Festival, we will only just have begun enjoying fresh lobster through the
season here in The Keys. The season runs from August 6th through
March 31st each year, but there is nothing like the first taste of
fresh lobster. Cap off Lobsterfest with the annual Lobsterfest Brunch
starting at 11:00 am and held at the Marriott Beachside Hotel. Advance reservations are required, so claim your spot for the perfect
seafood brunch celebrate Lobsterfest like only Key West can.
