It is
that time of year again. The holidays are in full swing, and there is so much
to do; the hard part will be choosing which of the amazing Holiday celebrations
and entertainments you attend. I have compiled some of the area’s best holiday fare to help you narrow things down
a bit. Bring the family, join some friends and celebrate the holidays in our
uniquely Keys way.
Going
on now through December 19
th, you can get a most unique holiday
Dolphin Research
Center on Marathon and having
your
picture taken with a dolphin. As part of the Meet the Dolphin Program,
pictures are taken, and visitors can bring holiday-themed props to pose with
for that perfect holiday snapshot and a great memory as well. Check out the
Dolphin Research Center for all the details.
Beginning
December 4
th and running through the 21
st, you can join
the
Key West Holiday Fest. This is a
three-week festival which includes
fun
activities with Santa, such as snorkeling and pet photos, a free
“Violins in Motion” outdoor holiday
concert and other entertainment including Jazz performances. Harbor walkways
and inns will all be lit up for the month. The annual
Key West Holiday Parade will be on Saturday, December 6
th.
You can enjoy historic tours of the areas’ inns. This festival alone will keep
you in the holiday spirit every day. The
Key West HolidayFest website has a
full listing of all the events and times.
The
holiday in the Keys wouldn't be the same without the
Lighted Boat Parade. The Boat Parade is its own special event,
being held on December 13-14
th.
Boat owners across the Keys delight in decorating their vessels with
holiday flare and Florida Keys style. On the 13
th you can see the
boats in
Key Largo at Blackwater Sound, in
Key West Harbor, as well as Pine Channel
Causeway and
Marathon’sBoot Key Harbor. On
the 14
th the parade will be at
Key ColonyBeach.
On
December 20
th there will be one of the most popular outdoor musical
events of the season.
The Pops in the
Park Winter Wonders Concert will be held at Founders Park, Islamorada. This
family friendly concert brings you seasonal favorites, presented by the
KeysCommunity Concert Band.
Bring a blanket and chair and settle in for some holiday entertainment.
Celebrating
the holidays is easy in Key West; the hard part will be choosing where you go
to join in the fun.
