The Marathon Garden Club will host its annual Home and Garden Tour this
Saturday, March 1st. This is
an event to raise money for the garden clubhouse to be kept in good working
order, as well as to put toward community projects sponsored by the Garden
Club. The goal of the club is to promote
the beauty of gardens within the Marathon community, which they have been
supporting for the last 50 years. Through public community service, the club
has helped to improve Marathon neighborhood public spaces. Members of the club
are also encouraged through classes and events to create their own gardens of
beauty and to help neighbors do the same.
This year’s garden tour showcases six waterfront homes, inside and out,
in Key Colony Beach. Tour
participants can view these homes and gardens from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. There
will be an oceanfront condo to view, a guest house, and four beautiful homes on
the tour. Added to the event this year is a judged flower show to “Celebrate Spring” at the clubhouse itself.
You can also purchase raffle tickets for
five giclee prints donated by local artists. Refreshments will also be on
hand. These aspects of the tour will give participants a chance to rest between
touring the homes and to see some truly uniquely beautiful flowers grown in
Marathon.
The annual Garden Tour gives
residents and visitors alike a unique insight to amazing homes with beautiful
gardens due to the generosity of the home owners willing to open their doors.
You can enjoy a day of touring these homes and get inspired for new design,
decorating, or landscaping at your own home. Admission to the tour is $25.00 and tickets can be purchased in advance
at the Garden Club house or Marathon Chamber of Commerce. You can also buy
them on Saturday at any of the homes on the tour.
