Right now is the best time to visit beautiful Key West. Why? Because it’s hurricane season! Hurricane season in the U.S. runs between June 1st and November 30th. As we have seen in the last month or so the tropics are most active between August and October.  So is this really a good time to visit Key West or am I crazy? According to US News Travel and Tripadvisor, the answer to this question is a resounding yes! Typically flight and hotel costs are fairly inexpensive now compared to the winter months, and generally there are fewer tourists. This is the same type of thing we see between the months of March and May.

I know you are saying that you don’t have to worry about hurricanes and other tropical weather between March and May, so why travel now? First, why wait? You never know what is going to happen 6 or 7 months down the road, and when you think about it, the tropical weather is why most people visit Key West. I mean the warm sun, sandy beaches, spectacular sunsets, beautiful blue ocean, and interesting night life all at your back door without the hassle of extra tourists and long lines to see the attractions.

Yes the attractions are all still open. You can stroll down Duval Street for a pub crawl, or go out parasailing, snorkeling or even deep sea fishing. If you go deep sea fishing you can always enter your catch in the Key West Fishing Tournament that runs through Nov. 30th. The Gay Key West Trolley Tour runs until Dec. 31st. After a day of sun and fun you can go to Mallory Square and enjoy the Sunset Celebration.

Now, I think we were wondering if those pesky hurricanes could ruin the fun in Key West. I don’t think so, but if you get caught up in all the great things to do in Key West there is always someone with an eye on the weather to help make sure everyone is safe and sound. So hurricanes - f’get about’em. Come to Key West and enjoy! You might even find out you’d like to stay for a while.

Whether you’re a tourist, looking to move permanently to the Keys, or just someone who likes the beauty of nature, the great variety of amenities in the homes in our area are just more reason to want to live in beautiful Key West.  If you’re interested in real estate in this attractive area contact me, Jimmy Lane, at Key West Real Estate:  (305)766-0585.
