The annual Master Chefs Classic food competition drew scores of people to the Westin Key West Resort on Jan. 29 to sample chefs' best creations while raising money for the Monroe Association of ReMARKable Citizens. Following are the winners, judged by a three-person panel:
Appetizers: First (tie): Conch Republic Seafood Co., seared duck breast, and the Casa Marina's Sun Sun Restaurant for tuna salmon torch; second, A & B Lobster House, lobster ceviche; third, Pier House Resort, smoked beef tenderloin.
Entrees: First (tie): Latitudes on Sunset Key, parmesan-crusted crab, and Tavern'nTown at the Marriott Beachside, pan-roasted lobster; second, Hot Tin Roof, scallops with charred escarole; third, A & B Lobster House, pan-seared scallops; people's choice, Cafe Sole, scallops over spinach.
Dessert: First: Casa Marina, chocolate sushi with raspberry hazelnut caviar; second, Bistro 245, zaya tower sponge cake and rum raisin walnut custard; third, Alonzo's Oyster Bar, southern pecan pie; people's choice, Croissants de France, strawberry cake.
