Prehistoric Endangered Sawfish Still Lurking in Key West Waters

Sawfish
A six-person team of scientists from the Florida Museum of Natural History has recently begun a project to search for the elusive smalltooth sawfish in waters near the Naval Air Station Key West and other Navy owned properties near Key West.  The smalltooth sawfish once roamed waters from New York to Texas, but now are believed to exist only in South Florida and the Keys waters.  The fish is very elusive and fishermen and divers are asked to report any sightings to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at 561-625-5122.
